hierarchical storage management (HSM)

To manage document information in such a way that the medium and location are selected based on the operational status when selecting the medium to store the document information.

It refers to an integrated management method in which high-speed hard disks are used for document information to be used immediately, document information that is used less frequently is transferred to optical disks, and document information that is used less frequently but requires long-term preservation is transferred to magnetic tapes or microfilms.
